“The
light as it bounces and flows across
a scene, creating shape, form and
natural color harmonies is the thing
that intrigues me the most. I’m just
trying to articulate on canvas the
beauty of what I’m seeing out there.
To hear someone say my painting
reminds them of being in their
favorite place outdoors is the best
compliment I could receive.”
Kathryn has found her passion in oil
painting landscapes in an
impressionistic, yet realistic
style. Although primarily a western
landscape painter, figurative, urban
and coastal scenes are often
subjects she loves to paint.
Kathryn and her
husband, Kirk, are raising three
children in Denver, Colorado where
she is able to look out her window
for material. Within a three hour
drive, she can set up the easel to
paint “en plein air” at some of the
most beautiful spots in the country.
Most of her larger studio pieces are
derived from the smaller studies
done on location.
Throughout the year, Kathryn travels
to beautiful sites from Rocky
Mountain National Park to the
Cuchara River to capture these
scenes in paint. She has also
painted from her travels abroad to
Italy, Greece and France.
